Pineapple Turmeric Smoothie Recipe

This smoothie tastes wonderful. In addition to a good portion of the RDA of Vitamin C, Iron, Thiamin, Magnesium, Copper, and Manganese, turmeric and bromelain are both excellent anti-inflammatories. Bromelain also aids digestion, and the ginger will help settle your stomach and reduce nausea.

Pineapple Turmeric Smoothie Recipe
Makes one 16 fl oz serving

Ingredients:

1 fresh pineapple or store-bought frozen pineapple pieces
2 Fresh young coconuts or 2 cups store-bought coconut water
½ Cup fresh turmeric root or 2 tsp turmeric powder
⅓ cup fresh ginger root or 1 tsp ginger powder
Optional extra turmeric powder to garnish

Instructions

Remove the skin and core from the pineapple and cut it into 1” to 2” pieces.
Freeze the pieces between two sheets of plastic wrap on baking sheets until solid.
Open a young coconut and pour the coconut water into an icecube tray until solid.

After everything has frozen:

Peel the turmeric and ginger.

Either process these separately in a juicer or blend them separately with a little water and strain out the solids to get juice.

Open another young coconut and pour out the water.

To make the smoothie

Add two to three frozen coconut water cubes to a pint glass and fill the rest of the way up with frozen pineapple pieces.

Add ½ ounce ginger juice and 1 ounce turmeric juice or the powdered ginger and turmeric.

Fill the glass with fresh or store-bought coconut water.

Pour everything into the blender and process until smooth.

Pour into a glass and dust the top with turmeric powder.
