A hot, baked pudding is a must for hungry trail runners as the nights draw in and the autumn leaves start to fall. So with the last of the season’s blackberries, treat yourself to this delicious yet healthy dessert from Anita Bean, sports nutritionist and author of The Runner’s Cookbook (links below).
This fruit crumble is one of Anita’s true favourites. You can make it any time of the year, but it’s best as an autumn and winter warmer, made with seasonal fruits and served with a dollop of hot custard. It’s so simple and easy to make, and if you don’t have time to go fruit picking, a bag of frozen fruit from the supermarket will work just as well.
It’s always a pleasure to work with people who are so knowledgeable about their specialism, and Anita Bean is one of those experts in #runningnutrition. She also explains in detail the micro-nutrients and properties of each of the ingredients and what benefit they have to runners either in terms of providing energy or promoting recovery.
