You will need the following ingredients in making these delectably sweet and tasty steamed cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp table salt
1 can evaporated milk
2 large whole eggs
¼ tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp butter, melted
24 pcs small puto molds
steamer covered with kitchen towel
Here are the steps or procedures in making this Filipino dessert recipe called Steamed Puto or Steamed Rice Cakes:
1. In a large bowl, use a strainer to sift flour and sugar. Then add the baking powder and salt. Mix well.
2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs then add the evaporated milk and vanilla extract. Mix well.
3. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients. Mix well then set aside.
4. Lightly brush puto molds with melted butter then fill molds with the puto mixture.
5. In a pot with boiling water, cover and steam over medium heat for 8-10 minutes.
6. Remove from heat then allow puto cakes to cool off.
7. Gently remove puto from molds then arrange these rice cakes on a plate lined with banana leaves.
