A spicy and easy to make chicken recipe from punjab- Patiala chicken.

Ingredients
800 grams Chicken
1.5 tsp Cumin seeds
1 inch Cinnamon
4-5 Cloves
4-5 Green cardamoms
2-3 Black cardamoms
1 tbsp Black peppercorns
2-3 Dried red chilli
1/4 cup Yogurt
1 tbsp Garlic paste
1 tbsp Ginger paste
Salt to taste
2 tsp Red chilli powder
4 tbsp Oil
4-5 medium Onions grated
3-4 Green chilli
½ tsp Turmeric powder
3-4 tsp Tomato puree

Method
1. Dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, green cardamoms, black cardamoms and black peppercorns till fragrant. Set aside to cool. Coarsely grind the roasted spices with dried red chilli.
2. Place the chicken in a bowl, add salt, red chilli powder and yogurt and mix well. Add garlic paste and ginger paste and mix again and keep in the refrigerator to marinate for 15-20 minutes.
3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add onions and sauté till well browned.
4. Add tomato puree, turmeric powder and broken green chilli to the onions in the pan.
5. Mix well and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Add the marinated chicken and mix well.
6. Add ½ the spice powder and mix well. Add 2-3 tbsp water and mix again.
7. Cover and cook till the chicken is done.
8. Add the remaining spice powder and mix well, cover and cook on low heat for 10 minutes.
9. Remove from heat and let it stand for a few minutes before serving.
10. Serve hot.
