This is an apple pie recipe handed down by my mom that has been present at every Thanksgiving we have had. If you want to bring some pie to the holiday meal, I show you step by step just how to make homemade apple pie.

CRUST:
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 cup vegetable shortening
3/4 cup water
mix dry ingredients
cut in shortening
add water slowly mixing with hands
form into three balls
PIE FILLING:
(one pie)
6 apples
1 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp flour
Peel and slice apples.
In mixing bowl stir everything together.
CRUMBLE TOPPING:
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Mix dry ingredients.
Cut in butter.
Crumble with hands.
PIES:
Preheat oven to 350° F
Roll out three crusts.
Lay bottom crust into 2 pie pans.
Add apple filling.
Top one pie with third crust.
Pinch layers together to close forming crust.
Cut slits in top layer.
Add half the crumble topping to second pie.
Cover crust edges with strips of foil.
Bake 45 minutes.
Remove foil and bake 15 more minutes.
Allow to cool.
