Avakaai Chicken Biryani
It is a spicy chicken biryani which is a little different from the usual dum biryani. It is quick to make as it is cooked in pressure cooker.

Number of servings – 4 persons
Ingredients
Basmati Rice – 500 Gms
Water
Ghee – 2 Tbsp
Oil – 1 Tbsp
Bay Leaf – 2 Nos
Whole Spices
(Cinnamon, Clove, Cardamom, Mace, Star Anise & Stone Flower)
Onion – 3 Nos Thinly Sliced
Green Chili – 2 Nos Slit
Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 Tsp
Tomato – 2 Nos Chopped
Turmeric Powder – 1/4 Tsp
Chili Powder – 1 Tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 Tsp
Salt – 1 Tsp
Avakai Pickle – 3 Tbsp
Mint Leaves
Coriander Leaves
Water – 2 1/2 Cups
Salt – 1 Tsp
Ghee – 1 Tbsp
For Marinating Chicken
Chicken – 1 Kg
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 Tsp
Chili Powder – 2 Tsp
Salt – 1 Tsp
For Onion Raita
Onion – 2 Nos Thinly Sliced
Salt – 1 Tsp
Let Sit 5 Mins
Wash It With Water
Curd – 1 Cup
Coriander Leaves

Method
In a pressure cooker, heat some ghee and oil
Add the whole spices and fry them till they release their aromas
Fry the onions and green chilies till they turn golden brown in color
Add the ginger garlic paste and saute them
Add the tomatoes, coriander leaves and mint leaves
Add Turmeric powder, Chili powder and chicken pieces
Cook the chicken till its no more pink and add the avakaai pickle
Add coriander leaves and mint leaves
Add enough water and add rinsed rice
Pressure cook the rice
Rest the rice before opening the pressure cooker
Serve hot with some raita
