Smoothies are a great way to get nutrition in your body in a delicious way. This smoothie doesn’t contain extra sugar if you hadn’t noticed. So make sure to use a nice ripe banana for sweetness.
I like adding the raw cashews, which I bought at Trader Joe’s, for some richness, protein and thickness. The chia seeds also add a couple of grams of protein per tablespoon and also help thicken up your smoothie to a milkshake consistency.
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup of blueberries or a bit more
1 thumbnail of fresh ginger, peeled
1/3 cup raw cashews
1 Tbsp. chia seeds
good dash of cinnamon (I love cinnamon!)
4 ice cubes
1 cup of liquid I used water, or milk, almond milk, coconut milk or water, etc.
Place all ingredients into a blender (I recommend the vitamix) and blend away for 45 to 60 seconds for a rich, creamy and smooth smoothie. It’s so thick you could call this a shake.
It stays with you for hours too. Give it a try and let me know how you like it by leaving a comment below!
