It is believed that biryani originated from Persia and was brought to India by the Mughals.

Tip: The water requirements will vary based on type of vessel you use. If you use a Pressure cooker, you can add about 1.5 cups of water for every cup of rice and for a Kadai / Tawa, for extra caution, use 1.75 cups of water for every cup of rice.
