Chicken palak is a classic Indian dish made with chicken and spinach. This spinach curry is one of the healthier forms on Indian curries. With this recipe, you can make chicken saag that is healthy and nutritious without comprising on flavour. Packed with spices, onions and the most important ingredient, spinach, this spinach curry is perfect for all those curry nights. This traditional chicken palak recipe is authentic and sure to impress all your friends and families. The spices in this curry add a little heat combined with the spinach gravy and tender chicken to help you bring the takeout home.

Ingredients:

500g Chicken
500g Spinach (Palak)
50ml Olive Oil
2 Garlic Cloves
2 Red Onions
2 Tomatoes
1 Green Chill
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
1 tsp Chilli Powder
1 tsp Crushed Chillies
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 tsp Coriander Powder
1 tsp Dried Fenugreek Seeds (Methi)

Method:

1. Add the olive oil into the pan
2. Chop the garlic cloves and add to the pan
3. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned
4. Add the cumin seeds and crushed chillies
5. Sauté for a 1-2 minutes
6. Add the finely diced onions and cook for 4-5 minutes until softened
7. Add the chopped tomatoes then cook for 3-4 minutes
8. Chop the spinach up and add the pan
9. Cook for 5-7 minutes until water is released and spinach has decreased in volume
10. Add the chilli powder, salt, coriander powder and turmeric powder
11. Cook for 5 minutes
12. Add the chicken and stir to combine
13. Cover with lid and cook for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through
14. Add chopped green chillies and fenugreek seeds (methi)
15. Mix to combine
16. Serve with basmati rice and enjoy!
