Here is one of my favourite Chicken starter recipes ever- Crumb Fried Chicken. A definite people pleaser. It is so simple to make, yet the result is a crispy, crunchy, juicy and absolutely addictive snack. This is great for kids as well. This deep-fried starter can be eaten for lunch or dinner with dal, rice or a salad. So enjoy the best-fried chicken ever.???

Crumb Fried Chicken without buttermilk
Prep time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins
Total time: 30 mins
Serves 4 to 6 people

Ingredients
1kg Chicken legs
1.5 tsp Chilly powder
1 tsp Tumeric powder
5-6 Garlic cloves crushed
1-2 Eggs
1 cup Breadcrumbs
Salt to taste
Oil to fry

Directions
1. Start by tenderising the meat by simply poking holes into the flesh with the pointed end of the knife.
2. Prepare the marinade rub by combining the Chilly powder, turmeric powder, crushed garlic and salt
3. Next add most of the marinade to the chicken, rubbing the spices into the holes of the chicken till it is mixed well. Marinate this for 1-2 hrs outside the fridge.
4. Now to prepare the coating for the chicken we need to use beaten eggs, breadcrumbs and the remaining marinade rub. Add some of the marinade rub to the eggs and mix well. Then dip the chicken in egg, shake off the excess egg and dip into the breadcrumbs and press breadcrumbs into the chicken till it is well coated. Repeat this process for all the remaining pieces.
5. Heat oil, we can test if the oil is hot enough by dropping a clove of garlic from the marinade if we see bubbles on the surface the oil is hot ready for frying. Add your chicken pieces depending on the size of your pan. Remember not to overcrowd the pan. The chicken will take 15 mins to cook, fry on medium heat. After 5 mins turn over the pieces and stir it around to prevent them from sticking. Later, after 10 minutes the chicken should have a nice brown colour, remove them and place on tissue papers to absorb the excess oil.

Serve with the sauce of your choice. I recommend sweet chilly and barbeque sauce.
