Deep fried Nashville hot chicken recipe


Tonights dinner I made crispy Nashville hot chicken, my take. It was so crispy and delicious. What I found is double frying is the way to go. Except on the second frying turned the heat to med low. Fry chicken for 7 min on high, remove and let rest for 5 min on a wire rack. Turn your heat to med low and add chicken back on. Fry for additional 10 min, once you remove it check the internal to be at 175 degrees. Once you mix your spices add about 1/2 cup of your hot oil that you been frying in, be careful it’s really hot. Wet batter

1 cup cornstarch , 1/4 cup reserved for coating
1/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon paprika
1 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
1 3/4 teaspoon coarse salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cups water

Sauce spices

1/4 cup cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 cup the oil you are using to fry with.
