How to grill watermelon

This is a simple but an amazing recipe for grilled watermelon that has a honey glaze with a hint of cayenne pepper that makes this watermelon absolutely wonderful. It is topped with a homemade vanilla ice cream that is made using zip lock freezer bags, and it’s so easy to do. When I think of summer, I think back to my childhood, when watermelons and homemade ice cream was a normal summer event, but we never did it like this! Enjoy!

Ingredients:
Watermelon
¼ cup of honey
Kosher salt to taste
Cayenne pepper to taste

Ingredients for ice cream:
½ cup of whole milk
½ cup of heavy cream
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions:
Mix salt and cayenne pepper into ¼ cup of honey. Heat in microwave for around 15 seconds. Brush honey mixture on both sides of watermelon slices, and grill above a very hot grill for around 2 minutes on each side, until dark grill marks are achieved. You can place the grilled watermelon slices into the refrigerator to cool down, or let them cool down on the countertop. Now in a mixing bowl, mix all the ingredients for the ice cream well, and pour into a 1 quart freezer bag. Pour a lot of ice into a 1 gallon freezer bag, and pour a couple of tablespoons of Kosher or rock salt onto the ice. Place the 1 quart freezer bag containing the ice cream mixture on top of the ice. Now pour more ice and additional salt on top of the ice cream mixture that is in the 1 quart freezer bag. Seal the bag and shake vigorously for no less than five minutes or until the mixture begins to get firm and set. You can now remove the bag, and place in your freezer until ready to use. I actually made my ice cream before grilling the melon. Now plate up a slice of the grilled water melon, and top with the homemade vanilla ice cream, and then drizzle chocolate syrup on top.
