Abbey’s back this year to help you celebrate Halloween in fine style with a dessert dip not only looks like an edible graveyard but is also a healthy vegan dessert suitable for any Halloween party.
When you’re a kid Halloween seems spooky because there are weird men roaming the streets with psycho serial killer masks on. When you’re an adult it feels scary because you’re somehow expected to get yourself into the skimpiest costume of your life while staring down the barrel of a huge dish loaded with candy and you’re tethered to the front door just a few feet away from it for hours on end. Forget stranger danger, overdosing on candy is the real issue here.
Like any adult Abbey loves a sweet treat, but have too many of those those mini fun bars and you’re probably not going to be having much fun anymore. Abbey is here to save the day once again with her Healthy Halloween Dessert Dip Recipe that you and your kids are going to love. It looks like a spooky graveyard but is actually a vegan reduced sugar dessert that everyone at your holiday party is going to go nuts over. If you’re going to dress up for Halloween why not dress up your food too?
To make this “Edible Graveyard” start by adding some soft tofu, ripe banana, natural peanut butter, vanilla extract, maple syrup and cinnamon into a blender. Blend this until it’s nice and smooth. Once blended layer it into your serving dish. Follow this up by mixing together some unsweetened coconut, cocoa powder, and cacao nibs into a bowl. Mix these together well and then simply layer it all evenly onto the mixture you just put into your serving container.
Now that you’ve got your basic graveyard created it’s time to decorate. To make your pumpkins just peel some clementines and put a piece of celery in the top. Make your ghosts by cutting some bananas in half and add eyes and a mouth on them with some melted dark chocolate. For the finishing touch grab some lady fingers and write R.I.P. on them with more dark chocolate and them prop them up to look like gravestones. Just place all your pumpkins and ghosts as you see fit to create the perfect edible graveyard dessert.
Halloween is a time for celebration, and what better way to celebrate that with a fun dessert that embodies the spirit of Halloween without being overloaded with sugar and high fructose corn syrup?
