Have you been wondering what the best possible gift to give that special someone in your life for Valentine’s Day is? According to Registered Dietitian Abbey Sharp a delicious home-cooked meal followed up with a decadent dessert is the only logical choice. In this video Abbey shows us how to make 3 healthy Valentine’s Day dessert recipes that are sure to wow your significant other on what some consider to be the most important day of the year. These recipes are all also 100% naturally gluten free.
Abbey starts off with Strawberry Sabayon Brulee. Brulee was first recorded in it’s French form in 1691 and has deviated very little in it’s recipe since that time. Despite what many believe to be true regarding the dessert Cambridge, England has laid claim to the birth of this delectable delight. Abbey puts a spin on the classic recipe by using Fresita in addition to cream to give the entire dessert a nice strawberry overtone. As far as healthy Valentine’s Day dessert recipes go you will be hard pressed to top this one. Her next dessert is Strawberry Black Pepper Sorbet. For most people the name “sorbet” itself conjures up images of gourmet ice-cream served in an ornate ceramic dish, and keeping true to the roots of sorbet while adding her own special spin on it Abbey delivers another delicious recipe. By again using Fresita as a main ingredient, but this time adding peppercorns that are later strained out this recipe yields an incredible combination of flavors in the sorbet.
The last of Abbey’s healthy Valentine’s Day dessert recipes is Strawberry Sparkling Gelee, or gelatin as many of us commonly refer to it. She dissolves a half a cup of sugar into a bottle of sparkling wine with a cup of strawberries over medium heat. She then strains out the strawberries, mixes in the gelatin, pours the liquid into champagne flutes and tops with some fresh strawberries. Then, as will all gelatin dishes, you simply let it chill in the fridge. The result is an unforgettable strawberry flavored gelatin concoction that is sure to please your special someone this Valentine’s Day.
