Malabar chicken curry is a Kerala-style chicken curry. The best part of this Malabar chicken curry is its rich, luscious sauce or gravy. Chicken cooked into the Red gravy made out of great aromatic spices, chilies, and importantly Coconut Milk imparts a wholesome flavor to the whole dish. The creamy sauce alongside the subtle spices, and of course the tender chicken and goes well with roti, appam, ghee rice, Kerala parotta, pathiri, or coconut rice.
Malabar Chicken Curry Ingredients –
0:27 For the Marination
1 tbsp Coriander Seeds
10 Dry Red Chillies
1-inch Cinnamon Stick
4 Green Cardamom
5 Cloves
1 tsp Fennel Seeds
Water (as required)
½ kg Chicken
1:48 For the Coconut Paste
1 tbsp Coconut Oil
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 cup Fresh Coconut (grated)
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
Water (as required)
2:32 For the Gravy
2 tbsp Coconut Oil
1-inch Ginger (crushed)
5 Garlic Cloves (crushed)
1 Onion (finely chopped)
1 Tomato (finely chopped)
Water (as required)
6-7 Curry Leaves
3 Green Chillies (finely chopped)
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
Water (as required)
1 cup Coconut Milk
5:05 For the Tempering of the gravy
2 tbsp Coconut Oil
5 Pearl Onions (sliced)
8-10 Curry Leaves
For garnish
